BY CAR

If this is your first time driving through France and you want to take a straight forward, easy route plan, may we recommend the following;

Channel crossing to Calais.

From Calais take the Auto route A26 to Paris then follow signs for Reims and  Lyon. Do not turn off for Paris, keep following the Lyon signs.

Take the A48 just before Lyon heading for Marseille. Stay on this auto route until you see signs for Nice. Head for Nice taking the motorway exit

Junction 36 at Le Muy (signposted Draguignan, Ste Maxime and St Tropez ).

Motorway Junction 36

When you reach Ste Maxime follow signs for St Tropez and you will be driving along the coast road. At the third roundabout the campsite is on the left.

This is the quickest and easiest route through France (approx 14 hours, or 730 miles) depending on driving speed, traffic etc, avoiding any major cities and except for a 30 minute stretch at the end, is completely on the French auto routes with little congestion and excellent facilities.

A toll system operates on all French auto routes. You must carry adequate cash to cover this, or a major credit card if you are stuck (approx €70 each way).
